Compost Site Relocation

The Town voted to relocate the current compost site at the November 2019 Special Town Meeting to upper Pine Street next to the Transfer Station. The DPW collected RFP's from interested compost service providers through June 10, 2021. This page will be updated as information changes and new information becomes available. 

July 2023: Construction continues on the new compost facility. Work is on schedule and should be completed Fall 2023. Once work is complete, the Transfer Station will reopen on Wednesdays. 

December 2022: Construction of the new compost facility begins on Pine Street. The Transfer Station will be closed on Wednesdays during construction and will reopen when complete. The Transfer Station will remain open on Saturdays during construction. 

April 2022: A contract has been set between the Town and Black Earth to relocate and build a new compost facility next to the transfer station on upper Pine Street.
