The mission of the Land Use Department is to preserve the natural, scenic, and historic character of the Town, plan and promote economic vitality downtown, ensure an efficient review of development projects, and help the Town achieve the vision outlined in the Master Plan.
The Land Use Department coordinates the actions of the following land-related Boards and Commissions in Manchester-by-the-Sea:
- Planning Board
- Zoning Board
- Conservation Commission
- Historic Commission
The Director of Land Management is responsible for working with additional Boards and Committees on related projects and include the Downtown Improvement Committee, the Affordable Housing Trust, and the Open Space Committee. The Director is also available to assist other departments as necessary on planning and development related matters.
