BOS WEEKLY UPDATE – January 31, 2019
Exploring Shared services with Essex: A public forum to formally kick-off a study of options for greater collaboration between Manchester and Essex is scheduled for Thursday, January 31 beginning at 7PM at the Essex Town Hall. An overview of the study will be presented. Staff and residents will be provided an opportunity to share ideas with the consultants who have been hired from UMass Boston’s Collin’s Center to help us with the exploration of ideas.
Central Street Culvert and the Pond Presentation: We will host a review of design considerations for the re-building of the culvert, dam and tide gate on Central Street at our meeting on Monday, February 4th. The presentation is scheduled to begin at 7:00PM.
White Beach Study: Also at next Monday’s meeting, the Selectmen hope to decide whether to accept a grant that has been awarded to the Town to study options for mitigating the impacts of sea level rise and larger storm surges on White Beach and the stretch of Ocean Street that traverses the beach. While the scope of the study has been clarified to include three options – do nothing, raise the road/build a new seawall, or remove a short portion of road along the beach and re-establish protective dunes/vegetation – concerns about the third option eventually being implemented (would require a town meeting vote) have some residents requesting that the study not go forward. The discussion is scheduled to begin at 8:00 Monday.
Trash, Recycling, Compost: Regular Monday and Tuesday Pick ups
