Has anyone else noticed that the 33 gal. orange bags seem to be thinner/ weaker lately? (7/1 - 7/10) They have been ripping more often lately when I stretch them over my 33 gal container edges. They are already almost too small and weak to use in the normal sized plastic trash cans, but if they start making these so thin that they rip every time, this is not acceptable. Maybe the mfg process was poor on the recent batch, as it rips on the "seam". If anyone else is noticing this we'll need to call the supplier and get this fixed. The cans hold about 1/2 the volume if not stretched over the edge of the full can. That about doubles the cost and is a Pain to use! Hope it's just a bad batch of bags and not someone's great idea on how to save another 1/2 cent/ bag :( If you've seen this, pls speak up.

They must cut town services and live within a budget with no TAX increases. I know many of you will be saying we want this and that. You must remember NOTHING IS FREE. Someone has to pay for services! The selectmen think well just increase property taxes. They are already to high. I live on a fixed income and can not just manufacture money so to should Manchester by the Sea

As an owner of a small space business and a recent non-resident after 25 years I would like to continue to take my boxes to the dump. I have nowhere to store them and I really don't like them on the sidewalk downtown. I would like to see our parking permit (business owners) be allowed to use that as entry to the dump. Please consider this. Thank you, Karen Roller - North Coast Too!

We live abroad and have a vacation home in Manchester. We love arriving and driving into our beautiful, picturesque, New England paradise. However, each time we have driven in lately, we keep thinking -- when are they going to paint the lovely Town Hall building? It's probably a bit overdue for a fresh coat of paint. Are there any plans in the works for this? Thanks!

I would like stickers that are required to be placed on appliances to be disposed of to be available either at the transfer station, or to be available online for printing out at home. These could be affixed to the appliancevas usual. This process is to make it easy for the townspeople to get the sticker. Having to go in person to the town hall to get a sticker is inefficient for all of us who work M-F. This is one example of a town process that is very inconvenient for the people who pay taxes. USPS, UPS, Amazon et al. allow printing of shipping labels from home. There is no reason that we homeowners should have to make an in-person appointment, go to the town hall, and pay for the privelege of disposing of an appliance.

Instead of building new structures, increasing population and demand on town resources, convert existing rental properties to affordable housing, priced based on occupancy (2adults, single parent/child, seniors) not unit size. Incentives for resident landlords, property management to repurpose real estate. Affordable housing doesn’t need to be grouped in one location; better dispersed throughout town - an affordable house on every street. What if Saw Mill were converted- downtown convenience - quality construction and property management - safe for seniors and children - Powderhouse proximity bonus.
