On behalf of the men and women of the Manchester By-the-Sea Fire Department, I want to welcome you to our department webpage. This dedicated group of professional individuals staffs our firehouse twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week with three full-time personnel – a shift officer and two firefighters. We currently have four groups of full-time firefighters who are members of IAFF Local # 2912, working a 24-24-24-96 schedule, as well a five-member call department.
We operate an 2019 ALS Ford/Horton ambulance (90% of our department is paramedic certified), 2011 E-One Typhoon Engine (1500gpm/750 gal), 2001 E-One Quint aerial ladder (1500 gpm/400 gal), 2018 squad (Class 1 mini-pumper, 1500 gpm/400 gal w/CAFS), 2021 brush truck (Ford F350, 4WD, 9hp pump/200 gal), a 2018 command vehicle (Ford Interceptor), 14’ Zodiac rigid hull inflatable boat, and flat-bottomed John boat. We share a 25’ Public Safety SAFE boat (ex-USCG) along with the police department and harbormaster.
We protect a community that encompasses approximately 18 square miles, 9 miles of which is water, and a population of 5300 residents. During the summer, the popular swells with summer residents and tourists visiting the town and beaches. We run 1200+ calls for service annually.
