BOS WEEKLY UPDATE – February 1, 2018

Police Department Accreditation Certificate: Congratulations to the Manchester by the Se Police Department for achieving Certification status by the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission.  The Department will be honored at a ceremony on Wednesday February 7th in Dover, Ma.  Follow up recognition will be at an upcoming Selectmen's meeting.  The whole department is to be congratulated for this accomplishment in professionalism, with special thanks to Chief Conley, Lt. Fitzgerald, and Officer Machain for leading the final push.

Our 375th Anniversary:  In 2020 the Town turns 375 years old!  Planning for the celebrations will be getting underway soon – stay tuned!

Storm Damage: If you experienced significant damage to your property or vehicles as a result of the January snowstorm, we can add it to our submission to FEMA as part of the process for determining if our area will qualify for federal disaster aid.  While the likelihood of getting any aid is small, it does not hurt to try.  You can send your estimated value of damage to the Selectmen's Office at bos@manchester.ma.us

New Grant Awards: Two new state grant awards have been given to the town.  One is for $400,000 to construct new composting facilities at the closed landfill, next to our transfer station.  The other is for $500,000 to help pay for the rebuilding of the dam and culvert on Central Street next to Seaside 1.  Thanks to DPW Director Carol Murray and our statehouse stalwarts Representative Brad Hill and Senator Bruce Tarr for their efforts to secure these funds!
