BOS WEEKLY UPDATE – May 31, 2018

Happy June!  With summer weather comes more strict enforcement of parking.  Our Parking Enforcement Officers are walking the streets monitoring the 2 hour parking limits as well as resident only parking areas.  Please be mindful of where and when you park.

Want to be more engaged in community affairs?  The Town relies on volunteers to serve on various boards and committees.  Most groups meet once or twice a month.  Interested in serving?  Fill out a volunteer application form which can be found on the Town’s web site.  Need more information?  Stop by the Selectmen’s Office at Town Hall.

Pleasant Street Paving:  Work on the water line crossings on Pleasant Street will be re-done during the last week in May and the first week in June.  The water line crossings are being milled out and repaved now that the trench work has settled.  Expect detours for through-traffic.

Round-about Trial:  The test of the round-about continues at the Pine/Central/Bridge/Bennett intersection.  All traffic should yield to those already in the circle.  New yield signs are now up.  After the trial period a short survey will be available to assess reaction to the proposed change that the Downtown Improvement Committee has advanced.  Have an observation to share?  Feel free to send an email to the DPW or Selectmen’s office. To date, the majority of comments express negative reactions about the round-about.  However, the percentage of vehicles properly navigating the layout has improved.
