BOS WEEKLY UPDATE – November 8, 2018
Budget Input: As work gets underway to craft the FY20 budget which begins July 2019, this is an excellent time to share your thoughts on possible changes to town operations. What ideas do you have for improved efficiencies in town services? Is there a service the town provides that is unnecessary or a service we should be providing that we are not? Drop us a note or stop in at the Town Administrator’s office at Town Hall.
Our 375th Anniversary is coming up! The Town will celebrate its 375th anniversary come 2020. Volunteers are needed to help plan the celebrations. This is a great opportunity get involved in a fun town project. Please contact our office at Town Hall if you are interested.
Streetlight Changeover: The Town takes ownership of the streetlights come December and we will swap out the old sodium vapor lights with high efficiency LEDs. The switch will result in annual savings of tens of thousands of dollars. The new lights will be very similar to the ones Gloucester has installed. In addition to the new lights, we will have the ability to control the brightness of the lights and the time the lights are on. We hope to have a sample up soon but you can check out the lights in Gloucester – if you travel up Summer Street/Rt. 127 just east of Raymond Street you can see our current lights next to the new ones Gloucester has just over the town/city line.
New this year - Curbside Leaf Collection: The Town will be offering a one-time Town wide curbside leaf collection in conjunction with our compost operator. Black Earth will pick up leaves bagged and left curbside the week after Thanksgiving, starting Monday November 26, 2018. Please see the town website for more information or contact the DPW at 978-526-1242.
