BOS WEEKLY UPDATE – December 13, 2018

Preliminary Budget Information:  The preliminary FY 2020 budget is posted on the Town’s website.  The Selectmen and Finance Committee will be reviewing the preliminary budget that staff has assembled over the next two months.  The proposed budget aims to continue the current level of services.  However, there are a couple of expanded staffing hour requests.  Please let us know what comments you may have.

Master Plan final edits:  Thanks to a good turn-out last week we received a number of helpful suggestions on how to improve the final version of the new master plan.  Many of the comments will be incorporated, including one to have greater clarity regarding Ocean Street.  Yes, this area will need creative solutions in the face of rising sea levels and funding for studies about options may be pursued but there are no plans to eliminate all of Ocean Street nor to eliminate access to homes in the area as some interpreted the draft plan to say!

Bulk-Item Curbside Pickup Changes – As of January 1st, Waste Management, our trash collector, will be facilitating all curbside bulk item pickups – no more green sticker sales at Town Hall. This will enable residents to call Waste Management at their convenience to schedule and pay for a pickup. Residents will be able to put out more than one bulk item per week! All current green stickers must be used by December 31st 2018 – no returns or refunds available. The cost of a sticker will be $27.00.

375th Anniversary Committee:  Last call for volunteers to help plan the celebrations surrounding the 375th Anniversary of the founding of the Town!  We have a great team of volunteers ready to begin but there is still room for a few more volunteers.  Contact the Selectmen’s Office if you are interested.

Trash, Recycling, and Compost pick up:  Regular Monday and Tuesday pick ups
