BOS WEEKLY UPDATE – February 28, 2019
Intersection Design Discussions: Options will be discussed for improving pedestrian safety while preserving as much on-street parking as possible at three intersections at our meeting on March 4. The three intersections – School & Central/Union, Union & Beach, and Washington/Sea & Summer are the three intersections that have advanced to the design level as part of the Town’s Complete Streets project. A wider sidewalk to Singing Beach is the fourth project. Final decisions on these projects will be made in April.
Town Elections: While town elections are not until May 21, nomination papers are now available and must be returned to the Town Clerk’s Office by April 2. The following positions will be on the ballot: one Moderator for one year, two Selectmen for three years each, two School Committee members for three years each, one Board of Library Trustee for a three year term, three Planning Board members for three years each, and three constables for three years each. Please see Town Clerk Christina St. Pierre for further information.
Construction Update: We ran into problems with other water valves while trying to complete the valve replacement work on Central Street. Thus work has been put on hold on Central while we replace valves on Union Street resulting in detours around Union.
