BOS WEEKLY UPDATE – July 4, 2019
Happy July 4th to all! We look forward to seeing you around the parade route. Please be generous in your donations to the July 4th Committee so that this wonderful tradition continues. And thanks to the Committee and Cheryl Marshall, Parks and Rec Director, for all their efforts!
July Meeting Dates: The Selectmen next meet on July 8 and again on July 22. (Note this was incorrectly stated as the 24th last week.) We continue the discussion regarding trees on the Town Hall Common at the meeting on the 8th. Come August, the Board will get back to their normal first and third Mondays of the month for their regular meetings. A special workshop is planned for July 12th to discuss priorities for the coming months.
Planning Board Vacancy: With the recent resignation of a planning board member, the Selectmen and the remaining members of the Planning Board need to appoint a replacement member until next Spring’s Town Election. Any resident interested in serving on the Planning Board should submit a letter to the Selectmen’s Office by July 16th. The appointment, made by a joint vote of the two boards, is scheduled for July 22. Other board vacancies include the Board of Health, the Animal Control Board, the Board of Appeals, the Cultural Council and the Welcome to Manchester committee.
Singing Beach Revetment work: Efforts to repair the rest of the stone embankment at Singing Beach will resume in the fall. We had hoped for quicker processing of paperwork from FEMA to complete the work before the busy summer season but, while we have a verbal commitment for funds, we are still waiting for a formal written notification enabling us to proceed.
Trash, Recycling, Compost: Normal Monday and Tuesday collections. Remember, do not place your recycled materials in a plastic bag or add any plastic bags to your recycling bin!
