BOS Updates  October 31, 2019

Happy Halloween!  Door to door trick or treating is from 4:00 – 5:30 due to the continued threat of EEE from mosquito bites.  The Town Halloween Party is from 4:30 to 6:00PM at the Memorial School.  We realize that this earlier time makes it more challenging for working parents but concerns over significant illness from mosquito bites necessitates this change. Please continue to be vigilant to avoid getting bitten – cover up, apply repellant and avoid outdoor activities after dusk.

Fall Town Meeting November 19!  The articles are set for a fall Town Meeting on Tuesday, November 19 in the gymnasium of the Memorial School.  Land conservation, funding for the Town Common renovation project, more water pipe work, and a new composting facility at the transfer station site are all on the agenda.  See the full warrant in this week’s paper.

Register for emergency notifications:  The Town’s reverse 911 call system is used to communicate with residents in emergency situations like the recent power outages. Landlines are automatically uploaded into the system but many homes either no longer have a landline or their landline does not work without power.  Please be sure to register your cell phone number in order to receive the recorded message by going to the Town’s website.

Construction updates:  Paving work continues on Mosses Hill and Rockwood Heights.  Also, our contractor is mobilizing to begin the water pipe replacement work on Magnolia Avenue.

Trash, Recycling, Compost:  Regular Monday and Tuesday pick-ups resume next week.  Please remember NOT to use plastic bags for your recycled goods!
