Representatives from Habitat for Humanity North Shore and Harborlight Community Partners participated in the Manchester Affordable Housing Trust’s November 17 meeting to build an understanding about the type of projects the organizations undertake and the way they work with communities to help meet local housing needs. The Trust will begin developing its annual work plan and budget at its next meeting on December 8.
Due to limitations that the distributor and production company of the “Manchester by the Sea” movie had to follow, previously published plans for a Manchester screening were cancelled. A single, invitation-only screening was held for North Shore residents directly involved in the making of the movie. The Town secured 15 seats for this screening, which were allocated on a first-come, first-served basis to residents who came to Town Hall on November 14. Separate from efforts to allow members of the general public to attend the screening, the production crew also gave direct invitations to various elected officials. The movie opens in local theaters starting November 25.
The Master Plan Committee's Visioning Survey results are now available on the Town website. The Committee will meet next on November 29 at 7pm at Town Hall to review its revised Draft Vision Report. For more information on the Committee's work or to schedule a neighborhood meeting, please email Sue Brown or call 978-525-6436.
Water main flushing will continue through the end of the month. Flushing is critical to maintaining the ability to deliver high quality water, so an efficient and effective flushing program is essential. Thanks to the conservation measures residents have taken, the town’s main water source has stabilized at a level that should let flushing be accomplished while maintaining an adequate water supply for consumption and fire protection. This will be monitored and if the water level starts to drop significantly, flushing will be suspended.
The town-wide water ban remains in effect. Please conserve water and honor the outdoor watering ban. No washing of cars, driveways or sidewalks. Hand-watering of plants and yards 5pm – 8am ONLY.
Trash, recycling and kitchen compost are collected weekly on appointed collection days. Please place bins at the curb no later than 7am.
